THE 2014 LEXUS IS 250 IS ROCKING THE                                                            MARKETS

The 2014 Lexus IS 250 comes fully redesigned, with new exterior and interior styling, increased rear-seat room and trunk space, revised suspension and steering tuning, and new safety features. It comes with rear-wheel drive as the standard or all-wheel drive as an optional.

Like it or not, the daring new styling of the 2014 IS stands out more than any previous model. Borrowing key styling cues from the Lexus LF-CC concept, the 2014 IS demonstrates the most aggressive form of the brand’s design philosophy – besides the LFA supercar, of course. The front end is dominated by the now-signature spindle grill, and particularly so in F Sport guise. The stretched wheelbase and wider stance allow for greater high-speed stability, while wind-cheating underbody panels and vortex generators on the outside mirrors and taillights serve to improve aerodynamics.

Complementing its substantial exterior makeover, the 2014 Lexus IS also receives a refreshed cabin. The overall look coincides with Lexus’ sophisticated new interior design language, which first appeared in the latest GS sedan. The conventional and capacitive touch switches are easy to operate, as is the mouse-like joystick that governs the infotainment system. Rear legroom is up 1.6 inches over the outgoing model, a small yet crucial increase that makes it far more livable than before. Front and rear headroom is likewise generous. Inspired by the Lexus LFA supercar, F Sport models feature a futuristic digital instrument cluster with a sliding mechanical bezel.

Standard equipment on the IS 250 is generous and includes 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlamps, foglamps, heated mirrors, sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, eight-way power front seats (includes two-way lumbar control), leatherette premium vinyl upholstery and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also standard are the Safety Connect telematics system, a 7-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, voice commands and an eight-speaker sound system with in-dash CD changer, HD radio, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and dual iPod/USB interfaces.

The 2014 Lexus IS 250 is powered by a 2.5-liter V6 that produces 204 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic is the sole transmission, and buyers can choose between rear- and all-wheel-drive variants.
A rear-wheel-drive IS 250 accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, a tepid time for this segment. Lexus-estimated fuel economy stands at 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel-drive version rates 20/27/23. Rivals with turbocharged four-cylinders surpass the IS 250 in acceleration and fuel mileage.
A base 2014 Lexus IS has a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of just under $37,000, which reflects a near-$900 price increase over the 2013 model. Adding all-wheel drive will set you back roughly $2,500.
You definitely dont want to miss the opportunity to see one.
