To be unveiled next week
The Frankfurt-bound 2014 Audi A3 Cabriohas been caught on camera once again, this time with the top up while testing on public roads.
The newest member of the expanding A3 lineup will be publicly unveiled at IAA which will open its doors next week. The car is based on the A3 Sedan so the wheelbase will be slightly elongated in comparison to the regular five-door hatchback.
Riding on the MQB platform, the A3 Cabrio will have to face competition coming from the forthcoming BMW 2-Series Cabrio. In terms of styling we should expect to see a prominent front grille, retractable soft top, LED headlights, dual exhaust setup and five-spoke rims.
Engines will be carried over from the other A3 models, together with a 300 HP (220 kW) S3 Cabrio model and the RS3 Cabrio which is rumored to provide approximately 400 HP (294 kW). A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, along with an optional six-speed dual-clutch for the S3 Cabrio and a seven-speed setup for the RS3 Cabrio.
